Our Story Begins In The Southeast

We are a family run business. We try our best to bring the culture and food of Thailand to the South. Sam and Jee Poonpoolpoke are a married couple who built and ran the business together from scratch. Their sons Jack and Jim work full time along-side parents with daughter Joy helping out behind the scenes and on weekends when not pursuing her own business ventures.

Executive Chef Sam Poonpoolpoke hails from Bangkok Thailand and arrived in NYC in 1974. There he worked his way up from prep and sous chef to executive chef in intercontinental cuisines. After 25 years of NYC he decided to move the family down to Conyers Georgia for a new business opportunity and open his own restaurant.

Co-owner and manager Jee Poonpoolpoke has knowledge and know how from her vast experience in restaurants and fine dining in the NYC and North Jersey area. She has been a professional restauranteur for the past 20 years giving top level hospitality.

Baan Thai's original location at the Kroger's Shopping Center opened in 1999 and had a continued following with great business growth. We decided to upgrade and renovate the restaurant by moving to its current location in a brand new facility at Parker Rd. in early February 2019.

Baan Thai means Thai home

We respect our customers and would like to ask for the same in return. We love our regulars and any customers who would like to enjoy Thai food. Please be our guests but understand we can not always be perfect. We do our best to keep a high level of food quality and we do not cut corners.

Please also keep alterations to a minimum so we may deliver your food correctly and stream line our service to all our guests.

Although we do offer take out orders, we are not a fast food or delivery establishment, therefore time quotes on orders are only estimates which can alter due to the nature of a family run fine dining service.

Wisdom of Buddha

A brahmin once asked The Blessed One:
"Are you a God?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
"Are you a saint?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
"Are you a magician?"
"No, brahmin" said The Blessed One.
"What are you then?"

     . . . . . . . . . . . . ."I am awake."
